Kyla Jenee Lacey is a writer, performer, and visual artist who was born in the Midwest, but raised in Central Florida. Her poetry has been viewed over 50 million times on various different platforms, including, but not limited to, Afropunk, Buzzfeed, Write About Now, George Takei, Wordables, Occupy Democrats, and In the Now.  She has been written about/featured by Harper's Bazaar, Slate Magazine, The New York Times, the Atlantic, the Washington Post , MSN, the Boston Globe, and several international publications .  Kyla has been a guest on the Tamron Hall Show, the Karen Hunter Show, and the Spearsberg Podcast hosted by comedian Aries Spears. She has performed a one woman show of poetry, comedy, and at over 300 colleges in over 40 states, as well as hosted multiple writing workshops. She studied Foreign Language at the University of Central Florida, but ultimately finished with a degree in history. Kyla recently began painting wall art which has amassed a great amount of attention online, as well.  She is known for her irreverent and biting humor as well as her social knowledge and perspective.... and she really loves cats.
